The Blitz Basic Book is intended for anyone who writes programs for Blitz
Basic.   This  book  covers  information for the beginner, such as how to
convert  decimal  numbers  to  binary and hexadecimal, to advanced topics
such as parser construction and compression.

The  best  part  of  this  book is that it comes with a powerful platform
level  editor  that  allows for compressed maps to be saved.  This editor
has  the  capability  of  producing  extremely large maps with up to five
levels  of  word ordered or byte ordered information.  This does not mean
your  limited  to five levels in your game.  No, this just means that the
map being used can only be five depth levels.  In other words you can add
map  attributes  to 4 different levels while the fifth level displays the
graphics.   On  top of that, an attribute level may be viewed on top of a
graphic  level.   Regions or zones are also defined in this level editor,
so  adding  large  numbers of sprites to your map is not a problem.  This
program alone is worth the price of the book!
